Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has appointed Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson-Okojie, as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Entertainment, Arts and Culture.
Johnson’s appointment was announced, along with those of 62 others, in a statement released in Lokoja on March 14 by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Folashade Ayoade.
The appointments would take effect from April 1, according to the statement.
The appointment was aimed filling key positions with the right people as well to broaden inclusiveness in governance by bringing on board people from more communities.
While 54 of the 62 would serve as Senior Special Assistants, 9 would function as Special Assistants.
Johnson-Okogie, who was born on Aug. 28, 1984, started her acting career soon after her secondary education, when she was auditioned for a role in `The Maid’, a movie that was to launch her into stardom.
Her outstanding performance in that movie paved way for her to secure more roles in movies such as `Hustlers’, `Baby Oku in America’ and `War in the Palace’.
She is now among the most sought-after Nollywood actresses. She
won the Best Actress award at Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards 2013 for her role in a comedy movie `Dumebi the dirty girl’.
In December 2013, Johnson-Okogie was listed as Google’s Most Searched Nollywood Celebrity.
Johnson-Okogie is married to Odianosen Okojie in 2011 and both have two children. ##
