The Grand hosting of the President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Melvin Amaju Pinnick, has been fast-tracked by a day.
The event, earlier scheduled for Saturday, May 20, will now be held on Friday, May 19, at the Government House, Benin City. The time remains 6:30pm.
A statement said that top government officials from all the six states in the south south region of country would be expected to attend according to the Chairman, Media Committee of the region and Edo Frank Ilaboya, who is Chairmam of Edo State FA.
He said the glitz and glamour of the event would be intact in spite of the change in date.
Ilaboya explained after a review of many events expected to clash with the reception on Saturday, Gov. Godwin Obaseki, pleaded that the hosting be brought forward by a day.
Ilaboya explained that fast-forwarding of the event was occasioned by the burial of a former Military Governor of the Western Region, Gen. Adeyinka Adebayo, which would hold in Ekiti State on Saturday.
Edo State would be represented by state’s Chief Executive.
Dignitaries expected at the South South Grand Reception for Pinnick have since been informed of the latest development and have since re-aligned. ##
