Victims of 2017 windstorm in Aguleri receive assistance

Anambra State Government has disbursed about N25 million to Anambra State Emergency Management Agency (ANSEMA) for victims of windstorm in Igboezunu, Aguleri.

The incident which occurred on March 22, 2017 destroyed not less than 90 houses and some economic trees in the area.

The fund was given to the victims on May 11 according to the level of damage they suffered.

The Executive Secretary, ANSEMA, Chief Paul Odenigbo, who was represented by Mr Chukwudi Onyekwe, said that Gov. Willie Obiano sent the money to alleviate victims’ pains as much as possible.

He added that the governor enjoined them to spend the money judiciously.

The first indigenous Bishop from the community, Rt. Rev. Paul Amaechi Udogu commended the governor on behalf of the community for the assistance rendered to them.

The Vicar, Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Igboezunu, Rev. C. Ogbalu whose church was also affected said their happiness could not be measured.

He prayed God to bless Gov. Obiano.

Another beneficiary, Mrs Cecilia Onyeibo, who received about N200, 000 thanked the governor and implored God to continually guide him and the state.

Cheques were disbursed to the affected persons. (MOI)
