Onitsha, June 4, 2018 (MOI) The Primate, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, the Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh has urged four newly consecrated bishops to imbibe deep knowledge of the `word’ of God so as to be able to look after the flock entrusted to their care.

Okoh said this while consecrating the Bishops at the All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha,

He said that the Church of Christ was through such consecrations, strengthened for greater evangelism to win more souls for Christ.

“It is our civic responsibility to profess Christ for the salvation of mankind.’’

The newly consecrated bishops are Ven. Godwin Anyigor Awoke (JP), Ngbo Diocese; Ven. Solomon Olusola Akanbi, Offa Diocese; Ven. Wisdom Budu Ihunwo, Niger-Delta North and Ven. Prosper Afam Amah, Ogbaru Diocese.

Describing the Bishops as the shepherd of the Church, Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra, a Special Guest, enjoined them to be steadfast in God and prayerful to enable them to overcome the tribulations that Nigerian Churches undergo presently.

Gov. Obiano assured them that his administration would always be supportive in God’s service for the salvation of the world.

The Bishop on the Niger, Rt. Rev. Owen Nwokolo reminded the new Bishops that they were chosen to proclaim the good news, urging them to peacefully oversee the affairs of their dioceses.

Speaking on behalf of the newly consecrated Bishops, Rt. Rev. Amah of Ogbaru Diocese thanked God for the opportunity to serve him as bishops and promised that they would continue advancing the cause of evangelism in the diocese.

The Bishops-elect were administered Oaths of Allegiance to God by Bishop Okoh. (MOI)
