Onitsha, June 13, 2018 (MOI) Justice Development, Peace and Caritas Commission (JDPC) of Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha has staged a campaign for clean environment tagged “Community Out For Sanitation’’.
The campaign is aimed at sensitising the public on the need to keep their environment clean by adopting proper waste disposing attitude and improve sanitation by cleaning their environment.
The campaign, largely a walk, commenced from JDPC office at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha through Aku Street, Ajasa, Vain Road, Court Road, Upper New Market Road and Mission Road.
The participants picked, packed refuse on road side, as well cart away refuse dumped on the roads.
Addressing the participants, the Coordinator, JDPC Onitsha Archdiocese, Rev Fr Edwin Udoye called on members to carry the message of proper waste disposal to their various homes, churches and schools.
Fr. Udoye maintained that most of the wastes could be recycled for other purposes.
In a remark, one of the residents Mr Obi Nwozo commended JDPC for their effort toward ensuring clean environment which according to him is in line with government’s vision of maintaining clean and healthy environment. (MOI)
