Aguleri (Anambra East LGA), June 13, 2018 (MOI) Commissioner for Works, Mr Marcel Ifejiofor has directed the stationing of a resident engineer to be stationed at Aguleri Otu-Aguleri Uno-Oil Rig road for regular update on activities on the road project.
“We want regular reports, daily and weekly basis on activities around the road project in area,’’ Ifejiofor directed during inspection tour of the road.
He said the directive became necessary to ensure that the 42km road project would be completed in line with specification.
“Gov. Willie Obiano holds this road dear to his heart; this is one of his priority projects and from what we have seen, a construction company, CCC is doing a great job,’’ he said.
He added that the company needed to be encouraged to do more, and promised to discuss their payments in order to achieve about 20km before the coming of heavy rains.
On the issue of ‘cuttings of the unsuitable’, Ifejiofor said they were doing quite a lot.
He said the Ministry would liaise with the Anambra State Due Process Tenders Board to determine “the average the level of cuts needed’’.
“But so far so good, they are doing well; Aguleri communities living across here are happy at the level of work done so far. At least, this rainy season, they can use the road,’’ commissioner said.
The commissioner re-assured that his ministry would closely supervise the project and as well as join the Tenders Board to ensure that money spent by government was accounted for and democracy dividends delivered.
The Site Engineer, CCC, Mr Tariko commended the Anambra Government for entrusting the job to his company.
“Although the job is challenging, but we will deliver in time and according to specification,’’ he said.
