A chieftain of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr Ekene Enefe, commiserated with staff and students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, over death of a student, Mr Francis Mmadubuobi.
Enefe, from Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area (LGA) in statement released by his Spokesman, Harris Chuma, described the incident as `sad and unfortunate’.
It said the death of Mmadubuobi caused immense grief and created irreplaceable gap in the institution.
Mmadubuobi, a student of the Department of Applied Microbiology and Brewing, slumped while playing basketball.
It adds: “the unprecedented solidarity demonstrated by fellow students to Late Francis Mmadubuobi proved he was a good man’’.
“Within his short years on earth, Late Mmadubuobi touched many lives and the positive impact he made while alive will remain indelible,” the statement said.
It commended the institution’s management for setting up a committee to investigate the immediate and remote cause of death of `the promising student’.
The statement urged management to strengthen efforts to procure more medical facilities to assist in promptly responding to emergency situations.
It prayed God to grant the family fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. (MOI)
