The Onitsha Royalty added Art Exhibition as part of this year’s Ofala Festival held between Oct. 6 and Oct. 7.
Igwe Alfred Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha (Agbogidi) explained that the exhibition was added to showcase the rich cultural festival of the community.
The Art works were exhibited in a museum housed within the Ime Obi Palace, Onitsha.
“The quality and regularity of the ‘Art Exhibition’ known as ‘OREZE’ is a festival of note, nationally and internationally,” Achebe said.
The works exhibited include paintings, sculptures, ceramics, photographs and installation pieces in honour of Igwe Achebe.
It also featured local, national and international artists like Dominic Zimper (a Beninois), Godfrey Okoro (Nigerian in Belgium), Tete- Katchan (Togolese resident in Ghana) Job Asidire, Abraham Oyebuser, Noch, an artist from South Coast, Benin Republic.
Others are Job Asidere, Abraham Oyebusere and well-known Art connoisseur attended this year’s exhibition.
The Guest of Honour was, Prof. Peju Laiywola, Head, Department, Fine/Creative Art UNILAG, who applauded Igwe Achebe for his recognition of female artists, commending his selfless efforts and contributions to the Art World.
This marked the third edition in the series under Chimedie Museum. (MOI)
