The Maternal Child Health Centre (MCH), Amawbia inaugurates 7-Man Family Planning Advocates to help in sensitising and educating community members on how best to plan their families.
Officer in–Charge of the facility, Mrs Claire Nwankwu observed that World Health Organisation (WHO) took interest in sponsoring family planning programme due to problems facing many families.
“The essence of inaugurating the Family Planning Advocates is for grassroots sensitisation and for parents to have children they can carter for as well as for sex selection.
“WHO is interested in the health and wellbeing of families,’’ she noted.
Mrs Nwankwu emphasised that people were ignorant of packages they would get from health facilities, calling on the advocates to work diligently to achieve the dream of WHO.
She urged them to start the sensitisation with their families as charity would begin at home.
The following persons were appointed to head the advocate committee.
They are Mr Daniel Chukwuneke (Chairman), Mrs Patricia Meniru (Secretary) and Mrs Oluchukwu Onwuzuligbo (Treasurer).
In a remark, one of the advocates, Mr Robert Nwokoye said that the programme would help to ameliorate peoples’ suffering if religiously implemented. (MOI)
