Awka, Nov. 6, 2018 (MOI) People of Amorka Community in Ihiala Local Government Area (LGA), Anambra State have expressed their gratitude to Gov. Willie Obiano for restoring their age-long power failure.
They observed that the protracted power problem had affected economic activities in the community and crippled exportation of their agricultural produce.
Addressing newsmen, the President-General, Amorka Improvement Union, Mr Stanley Mbanaso said the restoration was as a result of a series of electricity summits held at Ihiala LGA.
Mbanaso noted that the Senior Special Assistant to Gov. Obiano on Public Utility, Mr Victor Meju, recently organised a summit with Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), to ascertain the causes of power failure in Ihiala.
The PG said that after the summit, Mr Meju promised that electricity would be restored in fortnight and it happened that way.
“We are grateful to Obiano. Before now, our community was relegated to the background, but now, we have been involved in politics.
“We will continue to support his administration to achieve his goals,’’ Mbanaso added.
The President-General said this when he paid a courtesy visit to Mr Meju in his Awka office.
Mbanaso appealed the state government to further procure four drums of 70mm aluminium conductor wire, 400 low tension concrete poles, as well as resuscitate two uncompleted sub-stations at Ama-Nwokoro and Obiokpu area of Amorka.
He explained that those facilities, when installed, would consolidate the steady power generation.
The Senior Special Assistant to Gov. Obiano on Public Utility, Mr Meju, said the vision of this administration was to light up the entire state.
Mr Meju promised to extend the measures to other communities to ensure uninterrupted power supply in all the communities in Anambra. (MOI)
