Umuchu (Aguata LGA), June 24, 2020 (MOI) Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), Dr Simeon Onyemaechi has commended, Aguata lawmaker for backing healthcare initiatives in his constituency.
The lawmaker is Mr Cater Umeh, the state Lawmaker, represents Aguata 1 Constituency.
Dr Onyemaechi said Umeh’s healthcare initiative had been toward working for the fulfillment of his campaign promises by supporting adequate healthcare system of his constituency.
The ASHIA boss made the commendation, while addressing no fewer than 150 indigent persons of the constituency that were enrolled into the health insurance scheme at Umuchu Civic Centre.
He described Umeh as a life saver, politician with humane heart and a kind man.
“There may not have been a better time for this gesture than now as Coronavirus pandemic ravaging the world has added to health challenges, especially in rural areas.”
He urged the lawmaker not to relent, calling on other affluent Ndi Anambra to support him by doing same.
“ASHIA is one legacy of Gov. Willie Obiano’s Government that will never be forgotten as it has reduced drastically the mortality rate of Ndi Anambra.
“The days of visiting quacks, traditional birth attendants as well as self medication are gone.
“The fear of exorbitant hospital bills is defeated as government has paid 90 per cent of any hospital bill before hand,” he said.
Mr Umeh in a remark said: “we do not have all the resources at our disposal to attend to everybody in this phase.
“So, those of you that are not accommodated in this phase will have to patient with me, as economy improves, we shall accommodate others.’’
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Rose Okpala, expressed satisfaction at Mr Umeh’s representation.
Another beneficiary, Mr Samuel Akunne prayed God to keep blessing and protecting him from political detractors, while Mrs Theresa Ezeobi enjoined him to keep up the good work. (MOI)
