Onitsha North Transition Committee Chairman, Mr Patrick Agha Mba bestowed an award of Seal of Honour, Ambassador of Good Service to two outstanding personalities in the area.The recipients are the Traditional Ruler of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe and Police Area Commander, Onitsha North Divisional Police ACP Vincent John Ogbuakpaka.
The award was presented to Igwe Achebe at his palace, while that of Assistant Commissioner of Police was done at the Onitsha North Local Government Hall.Mr Agha Mba said the awards were as a result of their efforts, contributions and responsive approach to issues over this COVID-19 pandemic.He thanked Igwe Achebe for his approach to issues, especially when human interest and welfare of the masses were involved.
He is also a king that supports grassroots programmes for the overall wellbeing of the people.Palliatives were distributed to indigenes and non indigenes to help them to eliminate hunger and crime in this perilous time.’’The chairman urged other traditional rulers to emulate Igwe Achebe and initiate complimentary programmes to support their own communities.Igwe Achebe expressed gratitude at the honour, urging all to take necessary measures to contain the spread of the virus.
TC reiterated that the Area Commander had worked tirelessly in checking the COVID-19 protocols at Onitsha Bridge Head and the border areas.He has also helped to reduce the menace of hoodlums in Onitsha Metropolis.ACP Vincent Ogbuakpaka expressed gratitude at the receipt of the award, thanking the chairman for the honour.
He prayed God to direct and reward them while pledging to leave no stone unturned until sanity is restored.In attendance include Head Local Government Administration, Mr Gabriel Aguegbodo, HOD Health Department Mr Ezedinachi John, APGA Chairman, Mr Martin Obika, SSA to the Chairman on Media, Mr Onochie Ozoma and supervisors of different departments.
