Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Anambra Chapter, Rev. John Ndubisi paid a courtesy visit to Special Adviser to Governor on Disability Matters, Mr Chuks Ezewuzie.Rev. Ndubuisi, accompanied by the CAN executive members paid the visit at his Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka.
The cleric lauded Anambra Government for creating an office for persons with disability.I am glad that Gov. Willie Obiano created an office for persons with disabilities.I am also happy for the achievements of this office in its fight to make persons with disability in the state to have a sense of belonging.’’
He then explained that their visit was in response to the call from the governor that all public-spirited persons in Anambra should join in donating what they could to the society to help cushion the effects of the COVID-19.
He also said that the palliative they presented was just their little contribution to the disability community, urging them to never lose hopes or feel left out, even as the pandemic had continued to ravage the entire world.I want each and every one of you here to be positive minded and never lose hopes that this pandemic will end someday.’’
In appreciation, the Special Adviser Mr Ezewuzie, a Lawyer, thanked the chairman of CAN and Exco members for their kind gesture, calling on other public-spirited individuals, groups and NGOs and to emulate them.I am very grateful for these gift items presented to our disability community. I thank you for remembering us in this critical moment.’’
Present during the visit was chairman of Joint Association of Persons with Disability, Mr Ugochukwu Okeke and Special Assistant to the governor on Sign Language, Mr Joseph Collins.No fewer than 100 persons with disability received 100 bags of 10kg rice and 10 cartons of Noodles each.
