International Conference Centre to be completed soon says Deputy Governor

Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke says plans are ongoing for the completion of the International Conference Centre at Agu Awka.Dr Okeke said this during the inspection of the project, expressed satisfaction at the level of work done so far.This is one of the legacy projects that the Government wants to leave behind before the end of this second tenure.

It is a massive project, which will accommodate up to 10,000 people and might probably be the largest in this country.Hopefully, the project will attract tourists and also be a venue for conferences. Once the roof is set in place, then the interiors will be worked on,” he added.Dr Okeke assured that the project would be ready before the end of this year, urging the contractor to keep the promise to deliver successfully.

Also speaking, Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Mr Mike Okonkwo, an Architect, said that the conference centre was at its roofing stage.He added that out of the 56 containers of the steel roof, 15 had arrived in the state; the remaining containers would arrive by the end of this month.Meanwhile, the contractor handling the project, Mr Abiola Kolawole noted that they were working day and night to see to the completion of the structure within the stipulated time.He commended the State Government for its support and for living up to his mandate.
