Anambra State’s Head of Service (HOS), Barr Harry Udu has praised the Executive Committee (Exco) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Awka Branch for registering him as a member of the branch.
Udu made the commendation when the group paid him a courtesy visit at HOS Conference Hall, Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka to seek his support to bankroll their meeting planned to hold in October.
Udu also affirmed his commitment toward supporting the hosting of the branch. “I am willing to consider your request’’.
Udu hailed the group for the opportunity given to him to register with them and assured of his esteemed support at all times to cushion activities of the body.
He urged them to always support Gov. Willie Obiano’s administration as he was poised to take the state to enviable heights.
“Having joined the Branch, I will make it a point of duty to attend meetings but for official emergencies,” he said.
Earlier, Chairman of the Branch, Mr Ekene Okonkwo had commended the HOS for granting them opportunity to meet with him, noting that the visit was their first.
Okonkwo said that the aim of their visit was to familiarise and commend the HOS for identifying with the Branch, known as the ‘Capital Bar’ in the midst of eight other branches of the Bar.
He, then, intimated the HOS of their forthcoming meeting scheduled to hold some time in October, soliciting that he should accept to host that meeting.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tertiary Education, Mrs Pauline Nwandu thanked the group on behalf of the HOS, assuring of their preparedness to work with them.
Nwandu, a lawyer, described the HOS as a charismatic leader and enjoined them to support his leadership.
Some top officers who were present at the event include the Permanent Secretary, Pensions and Establishment, Mrs Caroline Njaka, Director for Training, Dr Nwando Obiano and Director Industrial Relations Service, Mrs Ifeyinwa Onyenwe.
Others are Permanent Secretary Basic Education, Mr Linus Nwankwo and HOD Establishment, Mrs Pamela Ikenna.
Meanwhile, in accordance with the stipulated NCDC directives, all COVID-19 protocols were observed.
