Wife of Anambra Governor congratulates nursing graduates of NOUN, receives award of excellence too

Wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr (Mrs) Ebelechukwu Obiano has congratulated the nursing graduates of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) at the Abagana Study Centre, Anambra State.

Mrs Obiano noted that nursing was a noble profession that she held in high esteem.

She said this during the Health Week of the Community Health Nurses held at the Awka Study Centre, Abagana, Njikoka LGA.

“The noble profession of nursing is one that over the years and indeed over the centuries has come to be well recognised, especially in the health sector.’’

She commended a former, President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo for initiating and for starting the prestigious institution now widely known in and outside the country.

“I also commend the Director of Awka Study Centre, Dr Scholastica Ezeribe for her dedication to duty in ensuring that the students are focused and active in learning.’’

She enjoined students present at the occasion to be dedicated and focused on their studies, notwithstanding the distance and work pressures, saying they would achieve anything with perseverance and determination.

Mrs Obiano, popularly known as ‘Osodieme’ was represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr Simeon Onyemaechi who doubles as Executive Secretary of Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA).

She thanked her, for her continued support to many institutions as well as backing events of the health week.

Dr Ezeribe applauded Mrs Obiano for her interest in healthcare delivery in the state through her Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFEI), noting that the initiative was worthy of emulation.

Chairman of the occasion, Prof. Lawrence Ikeakor, also spoke extensively on the role of nurses in the society, advising the graduating nurses to be focused while discharging their duties as certified nurses.

Prof. Ikeakor also expressed his gratitude to Mrs Obiano for her efforts at ensuring that the less privileged were well taken care of and for the rehabilitation of the mentally challenged in the society.

Graduating nurses also presented an Award of Excellence to Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano, for her continued support to institutions and the society at large.
