Anambra State will soon take delivery of its share of the COVID-19 pandemic vaccines expected from the Federal Government.
Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ASPHCDA), Dr Chioma Ezenyimulu) said this when she led a COVID-19 Vaccine Technical Team on a courtesy visit to sensitise the traditional rulers on COVID-19 vaccine at the council headquarters in Awka.
She hinted that the state’s Technical Committee on COVID-19 vaccination had decided that the health workers, who have been in the frontline in the fight against spread of the contagion, would be first to be vaccinated.
She urged the traditional rulers to ensure they register for them to be vaccinated as well take the vaccine sensitisation to their subjects.
According to her the COVID-19 vaccine is safe and therefore there is the need for them to receive the vaccination.
Dr Ezenyimulu also said that people above 60, as well as those with underlying medical conditions would be among the second group to be vaccinated.
Responding on behalf of the Chairman, Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Alfred Achebe of Onitsha, the traditional ruler of Isseke, Igwe Emma Nnabuife thanked the team for the sensitisation. He pledged their support in making the exercise a successful one
