Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council has condemned the blocking of Anambra State Airport Road, Umueri by some youths from the area.
The traditional rulers made their feelings known in a communiqué, signed by its Secretary-General, Igwe Pius Omachonu of Olumbanasaa at the end of their monthly General Meeting, held at the Council Chambers, Government House, Awka.
It said it received with serious concerns, news that Umueri youths in Anambra East Local Government Area (LGA) obstructed the movement of operational vehicles in and out of the Airport complex, currently under construction by the state government.
The council in session condemned in its entirety, any attempt by youths of Umueri or any other group of youths or persons from any part of the state to obstruct the progress of work for any reason whatsoever.
It enjoined the youths to approach the state government with whatever grievances they may have for amicable settlement.
The communiqué, then, appealed to the state government to listen to the youths and settle whatever differences they might have with dispatch.
It commended the Government for the peace and security enjoyed by the Ndi Anambra throughout the state. The council enjoined the Government to ensure that the matter at hand would be peacefully resolved in order to ensure that the Airport would be delivered on schedule, to the people of the state as promised by Gov. Willie Obiano.
