A man from Odomofin compound, Ganiyu Oyerinde made some claims concerning Iskilu Wakili’s men during an interview shared by Saturday Punch today. Ganiyu was identified as one of the men who was sent to deliver the notice to quit message to Wakili and he accredited their safe return to “chewing kola nuts” given by their forefathers.
You may recall that news went viral recently after Wakili was arrested by men of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) in Oyo State. It was later revealed that Wakili was transferred to an hospital.
According to Ganiyu, they were three in number who visited Wakili’s settlement in Oyo State to deliver the notice, he however claims that on turning their backs to leave, Wakili’s men shot at them but they did not die.
He explained that the bullets didn’t penetrate their bodies because they were at the time, “chewing kola nuts which our forefathers gave us to eat in such a situation.”Speaking further, Ganiyu claims that he and his companions however ran because seeing as the gunshots had no effects on them, Wakili’s men could try other means to harm them.
Ganiyu said he and his companions did not visit Wakili’s settlement with arms while delivering the notice to quit.Narrating his ordeal Ganiyu said, “We didn’t go there with guns or any other weapons, so we had to run. But they vandalized seven motorcycles belonging to some of those who followed us and stood at a distance. We later mobilized and returned to retrieve the motorcycles for repairs.”
