President-General Akpo Development Association (ADA), Nze Henry C Dim has commended Gov. Willie Obiano’s prompt reaction to attacks on security personnel across the state.
Nze Dim said this while exchanging views with information officers, at Akpo, on March 23.The PG said: “Gov. Obiano has risen to the occasion as he talked tough to criminals who come into Anambra State to unleash mayhem’’.
According to him, it is categorically clear that the Anambra State Government will not tolerate disruption to peace that has existed in Anambra State over the last seven years.
He said that the Government had directed the security personnel, agencies and vigilance groups to sit up.
“I personally listened to the speech that the governor gave to Ndi Anambra this morning (Sunday).
“I saw anger in him, while speaking about the murder of policemen at their duty posts.
“The hoodlums killing Correctional facility personnel, escorting suspects to court; kidnap and subsequent murder of a president-general are sad incidents.
“He has promised not to allow even a stone unturned in bringing these evil perpetrators to book.
“His directives are already being turned in action; as PG, I have mobilised affluent Ndi Akpo, of late to provide security logistics for the community vigilance groups.
“I told community vigilance groups in my community to sit up too. Every face must be recognised. If any face is strange, ask questions to ascertain who the person is.
“Information about any crooked movements must be given to the police for prompt action.
“Anambra State being the safest state in Nigeria is not worth being compromised,’’ Nze Dim noted.
The PG advised politicians not to mix politics with security matters as government and governance are for the living.
Nze Henry enjoined parents to sit their children down and advise them on the best option for them.
“Government is not happy, the security personnel are not happy. So, nobody should allow his child to be victims.’’
The PG, however, pleaded with the Government to have an upward review of vigilance groups’ wages to boost their morale. “It is vigilance groups that can furnish the police with information that can lead to location of the hideout of criminals in communities.’’
