Nigeria Police Operatives attached to Anambra Command on March 21 nab 3 suspects in connection with murder of two citizens, whose identities have yet to be known.They are Ekene Ezeokalo, male aged 19, from Ukpor, Nnewi, Emeka Iwuozor male, 30, from Umuduru Ezia, Ihiala and Chigozie Ohanaziem male 27, from Ogboro Umunwaji, Ihiala.
The incident reportedly took place on the March 20 at Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area (LGA), in connection with cult-related activities.
The arrests were in tandem with avowed commitment of the Command to taking up the fight against all manner of crimes to the dwellings of the criminals.
A statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, revealed that the exhibits recovered include a locally made pistol.He noted that investigation revealed that they were all members of a deadly secret cult and had also confessed to the crime.
In another development, Police operatives, while on a routine patrol also on March 21 received intelligence from the Divisional Police Officer, Abagana in Njikoka LGA that unknown persons had in their possession unexploded IEDs which they were about to sell in a condemned Iron Site.
The operatives promptly mobilised to the site and recovered the unexploded IEDs.
The recovered exhibits are now in the custody of the Explosives Ordnance Department (EOD) for further analysis.
“In spite of these successes recorded by the Command, the Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Bala kuryas, has reassured Ndi Anambra, that the Command will not rest on their oars until the hoodlums are arrested and brought to book.
“He enjoins them to work collaboratively with the Police and other security agencies especially in the area for providing useful information. “All the suspects will be charged to court on completion of the investigation,’’ the statement noted.
