Easter freedom as abducted Anambra Commissioner reunites with family

The abducted Anambra State Commissioner for Public Utilities, Mr Emeka Ezenwanne, an Engineer, has been released unharmed and reunited with his family.

The Anambra State Police Command made the confirmation to journalists in the state noting that he was released in the early hours of April 4, Easter Sunday.

He was abducted following an attack at the Isuofia Civic Centre at which a former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof Chukwuma Soludo was holding consultations with youths of his community.

The gunmen, who abducted Ezenwanne, had murdered in cold blood three police officers, there to provide security to Prof Soludo at the arena.

Their illegal action, set confusion in the arena and in the milieu, made a bold escape with the kidnap of Ezenwanne.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, explained that “the Police, Army and other security agencies mounted intense search and rescue to close in on his abductors to enforce his release’’.

“The commissioner returned home unhurt, in the early hours of April 4, Easter Sunday.

“The command has arrested five suspects in connection with the incident and remains committed in apprehending the remaining gang members.’’

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Monday Kuryas has called for calm, assuring of the Command’s commitment toward safety and security of Ndi Anambra and other residents alike. (MOI)
