Awka, Nov. 15, 2021 (MOI) Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Anambra State has congratulated Prof. Chukwuma Soludo over his victory at the just-concluded Governorship elections.
A statement signed by NAWOJ Chair, Anambra Franklyn Onyekachi, the election was keenly contested at which Prof. Soludo emerged as the winner.
“We know that power comes from God and he gives whomever that he wills. Prof. Soludo has been a great achiever all his life and expectations were high.
“He cannot afford to let the people of Anambra down. We expect him to implement his manifesto to the letter.’’
The association, then, called on the Governor-elect to carry the minority and the vulnerable along in his government as the present administration of Gov. Willie Obiano had done well in this regard.
“We urge him to have in mind for National Gender Policy that recommends 35 per cent affirmative action for women participation in governance as he forms his cabinet.’’
Meanwhile, NAWOJ, Anambra also commended the women of Ukwulu, Dunukofia LGA, especially, Mrs Eunice Ngozi Onuekwusi seen in a viral video rejecting N5, 000 monetary inducements to buy her over to the All Progressive Congress (APC).
She had been described as a champion for democracy.
“These are testaments to the fact that Anambra women are of integrity. It is heart-warming that Gov. Obiano rewarded Mrs Onuekwusi with a million naira.’’ (MOI)
