Akpo (Aguata LGA), Nov. 17, 2021 (MOI) President-General, Akpo Development Association (ADA), Nze Henry C Dim has commended Gov. Willie Obiano’s respect and honour to elders, even after their death.
He made the commendation during an interface with information officers, at Akpo, on Nov 16.
The PG said: “the declaration of Nov. 16 as work free day, in respect and honour to First Nigeria President, Late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe is an ideal thing to do.
“This is the third time; it is being done in Anambra State. It ought to be a National honour to Zik of Africa, in Nigeria.
“Nationalist like him in Ghana’s, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, his counterpart in Tanzania, Julius Nyerere, enjoy this honour at National levels in their countries.
“Those of us that clamour for united Nigeria should join in honouring Zik, who gave his all, in securing Nigeria’s Independence a reality.
“He did not fight the fight alone, yet he is the most detribalised Nigerian. There is no doubt about this,’’ he observed.
“History must be kind to Obiano. He is a visionary leader that sees ahead of others.
“Honouring dogged leaders like Zik does not only inspire young ones to work hard but brings spiritual breakthroughs to bear.
“Humans do not die, rather they transit. So, honouring heroes, even in the land of the dead can help in promoting harmonious coexistence,’’ he stressed.
The PG enjoined the other governors of the South East not to wait until the federal government sees reason with Obiano in making Nov. 16, a National day. (MOI)
