Obosi (Idemili North LGA), Nov. 17, 2021 (MOI) Tears flowed uncontrollably from members of the Church, as Methodist minister, proceeds on a transfer .
Rev. Chukwudi Maduagwu to another branch of the Church as the members including reverend gentlemen, the members, and the children cried profoundly.
Because of the deep emotions displayed by some members, questions were asked if he was being mourned or just a mere send forth.
Rev. Maduagwu had stayed for six years at the place and was being transferred during this years’ transfer season.
Some of the local member tried to dissuading from accepting the transfer.
It was gathered that transfers were an annual ritual for the Methodist Ministers as they were regularly joggled around from one area to another to promote the service of God.
Even, though some might be lucky to stay beyond four years and above, but that this could an occasion rather than the rule.
The minister on his own did not find it easy at all but had to take it because, it was the duty of God that was taking him to another place.
“It is what I signed before I was ordained a priest. I accepted that I will go anywhere I am asked to go. I can’t disobey,’’ he insisted.
“I will like relocate to Aba, where he as been transferred, if I have my way,’’ said Mrs Favour Ogeh.
“Who will help us to acquire this land, where we have been on rent for a long time. In fact, I will start going to another Church if we finally loose this place,’’ Mrs Jennifer Etomchukwu said.
The pupils in the Church’s school had also lamented about missing their Headmistress, who is the wife of the presbyter.
Most of them said that they would change to another school because of her expected absence.
Mr Obioma said on the contrary, that change was constant, “we have to live by it’’.
“Let us give it a chance and see what the incoming presbyter will have on offer,’’ he told the members.
“The deed has been done. We have to forge ahead. Support the new minister that is coming as you supported me and pray for me to do better where I am going,’’ noted the outgoing minister, Rev. Chukwudi Maduagwu in a response.
“At the last day, we will meet to part no more,’’ he stressed while consoling the members. (MOI)
