WAEC lauds Anambra for installing internet linked cameras in exam halls

West African Examination Council (WAEC) has commended the Anambra State Government for installing internet enabled cameras in examination halls of schools in Anambra State.
A letter of commendation to the Commissioner for Basic Education, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, the council said that the decisions of the Government to install the cameras in examination halls in schools were well received.
The letter was signed by Mrs E N Onodu, Deputy Registrar/Enugu Zonal Coordinator for Head of National Office.
WAEC. then, commended Gov. Willie Obiano and the Basic Education Commissioner Prof. Omenugha for the innovation, congratulating the state for being the first state in the country to install the examination electronic monitoring devices and granting WAEC access to the network.
The council prayed to God to continue to strengthen Anambra State as trail-blazers in the conduct of credible and reliable public examinations,
It noted that the innovation would enhance efficient monitoring of examinations as well as boost the fight against examination malpractice in the conduct of public examinations.
Reacting to the development, Basic Education Commissioner, Prof. Kate Omenugha expressed her excitement over the commendation from WAEC.
She said that it was an attestation to the present administration’s effort at ensuring that credible examinations were conducted in Anambra while reaffirming the state’s zero tolerance for examination malpractices. (MOI)
