The Ukrainian port city of Mariupol within the south-east of the country has been “90%” destroyed after being enclosed by Russian forces, its civil authority Vadym Boichenko said Mon.

“The sad news is that ninetieth of the infrastructure within the town is destroyed and 400th is unrecoverable,” Boichenko told a press conference.

Around 130,000 folks remained trapped in the town, that continues to be pounded by Russian bombardments, he said.

Approximately half 1,000,000 folks lived in the town on the coast of the ocean of Azov before the outbreak of the war.

“The Russian army is viciously destroying Mariupol,” Boichenko said.

“The bombings are incessant,” the mayor said, with the notable use of “multiple rocket launchers.”
