Germany can decide before long on whether or not to approve the delivery of 100 old Marder infantry fighting vehicles to ukraine, a government spokesperson same on Mon, in what would be the primary German heavy weapons cargo to Ukrayina.
German defence company Rheinmetall (RHMG.DE) has requested approval to export the vehicles to Ukrayina, a defence supply told Reuters on Mon, going to restore them over the coming months before shipping them.
Rheinmetall has also requested approval to export eighty eight old Leopard 1A5 tanks to Ukrayina, German newspaper Die Welt reported, citing documents. read more
Rheinmetall’s move is set to force Chancellor Olaf Scholz need} a clear position on whether or not significant weapons will be sent directly from germany to Ukrayina because the deals require approval from the national SC, which is chaired by Scholz.
A Rheinmetall spokesperson declined to comment.
