The transgender community in Abuja has come out to hold a public protest in the street against the federal government, urging them to focus on the insecurities in the country and leave them alone.
In the video clips making rounds on social media, some of the protesters (transgenders) were unwilling to reveal their identity, as they were seen covering their faces with masks.
The protesters have vowed to resist “queerphobia” in Nigeria.
They also held up a banner in which they urged the government to focus on more pressing issues in the country like insecurity, injustice, and food scarcity among others.
The protest took place at an open park with several protesters rocking T-shirts with various inscriptions including “Trans lives matter,” and “Queer rights are human rights.”
