WIFE of the governor of Anambra State, Nonye Soludo, has pledged to partner charitable groups devoted to women and youth development.
Mrs. Soludo made the promise, while receiving two children, Chimkamnayo Olisaemeka, 17 and Emeka Okoye, 12, who were rescued from their abusive guardians in Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area by officials of Ministry of Women and Social Welfare few weeks ago to Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.
Urging them not to relent in exploring their potentials through hardwork and humility, as well as always bearing in mind that the sky is their limit in life, the governor’s wife used the event to give scholarships to the two children.
She also assured them that their harsh days were over and directed Ministry of Women and Social Welfare to ensure that they get back to school as soon as the new academic calendar opens in September.
According to the governor’s wife, no resources will be too much in affording the best of life to the two children, because it is not in vain that they have survived years of domestic abuse and trafficking.
Responding, the two children promised to be the best they could be and assured that they would make the governor’s wife and Anambra State proud.
While Chimkamnayo says he has passion for Physics and Chemistry, Emeka said he prefers Mathematics.
Notable among those present in the event was Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Mrs. Ify Obinabo.
