Latest

Relief came the way of the 25 transmission stations whose licenses were disavowed last week for inability to pay their permit expenses.

The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, had, on Friday, August 19, 2022, gave a closure notice to the licensee for their obligation to the transmission administrative commission.

The activity by the NBC incited far and wide judgment from partners who saw the activity as badly roused.

However, on Friday, August 26, 2022, the NBC surrendered and briefly suspended the closure request by means of a delivery by and by endorsed by the Director General of the commission, Mallam Balarabe Shehu Ilelah.

This evoked acclamation and acclaim in the business and people in general overall.

In reporting the suspension of the closure request, the NBC supervisor singled out DAAR Communications Plc, as well as Silverbird TV and Rhythm FM for acclamation for their brief and positive reactions.

“We express our significant appreciation to the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria, the impacted licensees and Broadcast Stakeholders for their reactions and mediations,” Shehu Ilelah said in the delivery. “We, explicitly, express gratitude toward DAAR Communications Ltd and Silverbird TV/Rhythm FM for their reactions.”

The following is the full text of the delivery:

Brief SUSPENSION

The National Broadcasting Commission on Friday, August 19TH, 2022, gave a closure notice to licensee that are obligated to the Commission.

Following the final proposal, the Commission got positive reactions from the borrower Licensees, remembering huge players for the transmission business.

Spin-off of a subsequent gathering held with Executives of the Broadcasting Organizations of Nigeria (BON), and other basic Stakeholders in the business, the Commission has chosen to briefly suspend the closure of the obligated Broadcast stations all around the Country.

We express our significant appreciation to the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria, the impacted licensees and Broadcast Stakeholders for their reactions and intercessions. We, explicitly, say thanks to DAAR Communications Ltd and Silverbird TV/Rhythm FM for their reactions.

The Commission isn’t ignorant about the troubles this closure probably caused the administrators and different partners, yet should express that the Commission will constantly work inside the National Broadcasting Commission Act, Cap. N11, Laws of the Federation, 2004.
